Nick is a co-founder of MBaer Merchant Bank and has been with the bank from the very beginning. As an experienced expert in corporate finance, strategic projects and risk management, he supports the bank in its further development.

Key professional milestones

Founding member of MBaer Merchant Bank and Chief Risk Officer

Nick is one of the founding members of the bank and was already involved in the bank's project planning phase. Since the bank's launch in December 2018, he has been responsible for setting up and managing the risk management division within the bank.

On the Board of various banks

Before the founding of MBaer Merchant Bank AG, Nick worked for over ten years at the ABB Export Bank, later Nordkap Bank AG, first as Chief Risk Officer and later as Chief Executive Officer. During that time he was responsible among other things for:

  • developing and implementing risk analysis, rating and provisioning tools
  • transforming the former ABB Export Bank into a standalone, independently managed and financed bank for industry and business
  • granting loans for exports, raw materials and new projects

Specialist in risk management and financing

Nick has been involved with financing and risk mitigation throughout his career. For several years he was Head of the Loans Department at Marc Rich + Co Investment AG in Zug and London. His role included:

  • setting up the Loans Department and a risk control system
  • relationship management with banks and insurance brokers

 Qualifications

  • Master of Arts in Literature, Philosophy and Linguistics, Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich
  • Swiss Banking Association's Management Program
  • Commercial apprenticeship

Nick speaks fluent German and English and has a good knowledge of French.
